Rescue Story

Lou, a one-month-old puppy, was found trembling in a subway station in Taipei during a typhoon. Our rescuers didn’t know how long she had been there and took her in to provide her with food and shelter. Lou warmed up immediately to the rescuers. The rescuers, however, noticed that the puppy moved around awkwardly and bumped into surrounding objects. They took her to see an eye specialist and Lou was diagnosed with permanent blindness for both eyes. The rescuers sought advice from trainers who have experience training visually impaired dogs and were told that Lou has adjusted to her special need well. For Lou’s benefit, she has had three foster placements and adapted to each home quickly. She can be frightened by sudden noises and would bark when strangers/dogs approach as her way to assess a new situation. She is active with medium energy level. Lou requires a patient and committed family willing to provide her adequate amount of exercise and time to settle in new environment. She’s very friendly once she gets to her know her humans.

Please note Lou is part of our international rescue efforts and will be flown to the Lower Mainland (YVR) Vancouver International Airport on the next transport ONLY if a permanent home can be found beforehand. Please consider Lou, for your new addition. There is a $200 adoption fee (bank deposit and e-transfer only) which goes to help cover only a portion of each dog's medical and transport expenses. A home check will also be required because we do want to be sure that each dog goes to an environment suited to them. Please note that we don't have shelter facility in Canada, so please consider carefully again before this adoption.
